Evacuations Ordered in Freemont County Fire

Officials in Fremont County have ordered an evacuation as a result of a new fire burning there. The Parkdale Canyon Fire was reported around 2:00 this afternoon on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands in the Arkansas River Corridor southeast of Parkdale. As of 6:00 this evening the following areas are under evacuation:

County Road 61
The Royal Gorge Park
Buckskin Joe
all businesses along County Road 3A and 8 Mile Hill
all businesses and residents in the area along Highway 9 going north up to mile marker 5 from Highway 50
all businesses, residents, and campgrounds along Highway 50 from the junction of Highway 9 to Parkdale.

Officials estimate the fire to be between 650-700 acres.

As of  10:00, officials estimate the fire at about 700 acres. The fire has destroyed several structures, but it's not confirmed as to how many have been destroyed, or what they were.
