Senate Democrats Grappling with New Budget Cuts

Leaders in the Democratic controlled state senate say it's proving difficult to find millions of dollars in savings to help backfill proposed cuts to K-12 schools. Senate President Brandon Schaffer says he wants to restore about half of the education funding cuts, and asked committee chairs last week to find additional savings. Colorado has a roughly 1.3 billion dollar budget shortfall, and education, which makes up a large chunk of the state budget, is facing a big hit. Bente Birkeland has more from the state capitol.
