Leaders in the Democratic controlled state senate say it's proving difficult to find millions of dollars in savings to help backfill proposed cuts to K-12 schools. Senate President Brandon Schaffer says he wants to restore about half of the education funding cuts, and asked committee chairs last week to find additional savings. Colorado has a roughly 1.3 billion dollar budget shortfall, and education, which makes up a large chunk of the state budget, is facing a big hit. Bente Birkeland has more from the state capitol.
