As part of President Obama's ambitious plan to have 80% of the country's power come from renewable sources by 2035, the Administration wants to fast-track solar energy development across the Southwest. One of the Department's so-called solar zones is in southern Colorado's San Luis Valley, a remote, mostly poor farming region where the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is from. From Rocky Mountain Community Radio member station KUNC, Kirk Siegler reports that while some residents are eager for the development there, others are fighting to stop it.
