A 21-year old man facing disciplinary actions locked himself inside the Deployment Processing Building at Shreiver Air Force Base this morning with a handgun, prompting evacuations. Spokeswoman 2nd LT. Marie Densen says that building is outside of a restricted area and is where people go for briefings and to pick up gear before deployment. Densen says the suspect is with the 50th Security Forces Squadron.

"He was facing legal action in civilian courts, and disciplinary action and possible discharge from the Air Force."

As of mid-afternoon, no shots have been fired, and there are no hostages or injuries. In addition to the base's first responders, Denson says El Paso County SWAT and a negotiator from the County are also present. Densen says other base operations remain unaffected.
