A stretch of State Highway 67 between Florence and Wetmore remains closed after heavy rains this week damaged a bridge near Wetmore. Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Bob Wilson says engineers have been out to the site, where the bridge sank about five feet below the actual roadway.

"The supports under the bridge loosened up with the heavy rain activity that we had. They were already a little bit on the loose end, but not to the point where it raised any red flags for us, or a situation where we needed to close the highway in advance."

Wilson says thru traffic will need to use a detour, but local traffic can still access most of the highway.
