Two children have died from flu in Colorado, one in El Paso County. That brings the total this season to four pediatric deaths. As of January 12th, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says more than 650 people across 36 counties have been hospitalized due to the flu.
El Paso County Commissioners gave final approval to an ordinance that bans recreational marijuana businesses in unincorporated areas of the county. The measure passed 4-1 with Commissioner Peggy Littleton opposing. According to a release from the county, Littleton encouraged the commissioners to wait until after the state makes decisions on marijuana regulation before finalizing county rules. The new rules do not affect medical marijuana businesses.
Fort Collins-based New Belgium Brewing is now completely employee owned. The nation’s third largest craft brewer made the change earlier this week, which impacts more than 450 employees. CEO and co-founder Kim Jordan says the company had been partly owned by its workers since 2000. This week’s announcement takes the company to the next level…

Jordan says she will remain CEO, and the company’s management team will remain in place. She adds employee ownership could be a strategy other craft brewers consider as they navigate through an increasingly consolidated industry.
