Investigators are hoping to talk to a woman described as a speedwalker who may have noticed details pertaining to the killing of the head of Colorado’s Department of Corrections. KRCC’s Liz Ruskin has more.

Tom Clements was shot at his house in Monument, in a neighborhood of large homes in a wooded setting. Lt. Jeff Kramer of the El Paso County Sheriff’s department says investigators have not identified a suspect and are unsure whether Clements was targeted because of his job as head of the prison system.

"The initial reports that came in when the 911 call was placed was indicating that Mr. Clements had answered the door and was shot upon answering the door. I can tell you at this point that the information we've gained through the course of our investigation thus far is consistent with that particular report. We’re not speaking to what we believe the exact sequence of events was at that door, while he answered."

Lt. Kramer says they’re looking for information on a car seen before the shooting, parked a few hundred yards from the Clements home, running and unoccupied. It’s described as a dark boxy car, similar to a 1990’s model Lincoln or Cadillac. It was later seen heading south on Jackson Creek Parkway, near I-25. Clements was 58 years old.
