Pipeline Fire on Fishers Peak 100% Contained

The Pipeline Fire located on Fishers Peak near Trinidad is 100% contained. The blaze was started by lightening and burned 100 acres. Smoke may still be visible from the interior of the perimeter, but officials say firefighters have suppressed all heat, fire, and smoke that had the potential to escape the perimeter. The Type III Incident Management Team transitioned command back to the local fire district this morning.

Trinidad Lake in Trinidad State Park, which had been closed to boating to allow aircraft to refill with water to help in the firefighting efforts, has now reopened to all activities. The State Park remains under a Stage I fire ban, initiated through Las Animas County.
