Looking for Super Bowl tickets? Be prepared to pay thousands

[[nid:100653 field_align=right&field_format=1]]Only three days after the Broncos and the Seahawks won the conference championships to earn a spot in Super Bowl XLVIII, tickets to see the contest are going for thousands of dollars.

The NFL Ticket Exchange has tickets listed from $2,500 to $25,000.

And StubHub, another secondary ticket market, lists an average price at about $2500 but is also selling several tickets for suites for in the six-figure range.

Stubhub spokesperson Cameron Papp says these prices are not unusual for a Super Bowl.

“Generally we see ticket prices around this number," Papp said. "The fact that it’s in New York just adds hype to it and it’s kind of an historical game so it’s not surprising that demand is really high for this game.”

Prices are expected to drop as the Super Bowl kickoff approaches and Papp says the cheapest tickets for last year’s Super Bowl sold on game day.

Papp also reminds hopeful fans that the prices listed with StubHub are only asking prices and not necessarily what people are paying for the tickets.

“I can tell you that the highest ticket that sold so far is around $10,000, so expecting to get $900,000 for a ticket is probably wishful thinking," Papp said

According to Papp, StubHub has sold more tickets to New Yorkers than any other group.

Papp also says that as of Tuesday, more Seahawks fans are buying tickets than Broncos fans.
