Light winds will keep wind chill readings below zero in northeast Colorado Wednesday morning before the cold air is pushed out of the area and temperatures start to warm.
Meteorologist Eric Thaller with the National Weather Service in Boulder says a welcome change is coming today: temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s.
"It’s going to feel like the tropics," Thaller said.
Temps will continue to rise, with highs in the low-to-mid 30s for New Year's Day and on Friday. The central mountains and valleys will be partly cloudy with highs in the teens and 20s.
