Jeffrey Alan is plaintiff on a ACLU lawsuit against the city of Fort Collins over its law banning some forms of panhandling. Alan is “homeless, disabled, and poor. To pay for basic necessities, Mr. Alan sometimes solicits donations from passersby on public sidewalks,” the ACLU's complaint says.

Fort Collins is considering repealing all or parts of its panhandling ordinance following a legal challenge from the American Civil Liberties Union.

The Coloradoan reports that city councilors are planning a special meeting Friday afternoon to discuss the future of the ordinance. Details haven't been released yet.
