The Denver Post reports the board voted unanimously in favor of a proposal from Davis' family Thursday, agreeing to start arbitration proceedings to avoid a lawsuit.

Davis' parents asked the district to enter into a binding agreement to outline and allow full discovery of the events that led to the December 2013 shooting at Arapahoe High School. The 17-year-old was killed by a classmate, who then killed himself.

In return for the agreement, the family promised not to sue the district, something they would be able to do if a bill before the Legislature passes.
