Investigators believe a man found dead inside a burning car in Jefferson County was killed and are asking the public for help to find whoever was responsible.

The body was found Sunday down a steep embankment in Deer Creek Canyon west of Chatfield State Park.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that unspecified new evidence and information have led them to investigate the death as a homicide.

The canyon is a popular cycling route and investigators have specifically asked any riders who may have GoPro video footage around the time of the fire to contact them. It was reported around 11:40 a.m. Sunday.
