Demand Leads To Highest Denver Hotel Rates In 5 Years

Denver hotels were nearly full in September, leading to more expensive rooms and more revenue for hoteliers.

Smith Travel Research says Denver is benefiting from strength in all three sectors of travel -- business, convention and tourism. That led to the most expensive rooms in more than five years, about $130 a night. That in turn has led to strong revenue gains, up more than 7 percent compared to September of last year.

While hoteliers admit that marijuana tourism is having an impact, the big year isn’t just confined to Denver. Hotels across the country are on pace for the best occupancy numbers on record.
