Denver Home Prices Continue Meteoric Rise

Chart: S&P Case Shiller Denver September 2015

About three years ago home prices in Denver started going up. Since the start of 2012 prices have jumped a whopping 41 percent, according to the S&P Case Shiller Index.

Denver was second to only San Francisco for the fastest-growing home prices in the country in September, with home values growing at more than twice the national rate.

The major cause of the spike is simple economics. Denver has the second-fastest growing population in the country in the last five years. Yet there’s relatively little new housing under construction.
