Boulder City Council Member and former Mayor Matthew Applebaum is taking part in the Paris climate talks this week. He'll be part of a delegation of city officials.

"One of the goals of attending is to demonstrate just how essentially cities are," Applebaum said. "Cities are leading the way in many ways in mitigating to climate change and adapting to climate change."

The conference aims to achieve the first binding and universal agreement on climate change. For its part, Boulder has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.
