About 76,000 building permits were issued in Denverlast year, about 10,000 more permits than the year before.
The city’s Community Planning & Development Department reports it was the busiest year for construction permits in recent memory.
"Our limited staff is working harder than ever to keep pace," the department says on its website. The demand could slow how quickly permits are issued.
Part of deluge was caused by summer hail storms that damaged many roofs in the city.
