Colorado Springs Nonprofit, Developer To Build Apartment Complex For The Homeless

A Colorado Springs nonprofit and developer are planning to build a $14 million apartment complex for homeless people.

The Gazette reports that the Springs Rescue Mission and Nor'wood Development Group on Thursday announced plans to build a 65-unit complex called Greenway Flats on the nonprofit's campus.

Construction on the project is slated to begin in 2017, with completion expected in mid-2018.

Residents' stays will be funded with housing vouchers and each person will be partnered with a case manager who can help connect them with the services they need to remain housed. The project is aimed at helping the chronically homeless, which is usually single men and women who suffer from debilitating physical or mental conditions.
