Starting next Monday, August 13th, the show 1A with Joshua Johnson will be moving to 9 a.m. following NPR's Morning Edition. The Takeaway with Tanzina Vega will move to 11 a.m.

With a name inspired by the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment, 1A explores important issues such as policy, politics, technology, and what connects us across the fissures that divide the country. The program is produced at WAMU in Washington D.C., and delves into pop culture, sports and humor. 1A’s goal is to act as a national mirror — taking time to help America look at itself and to ask what it wants to be.

The Takeaway is produced at WNYC in New York, and provides a fresh alternative in daily news conversations, and live reports from the field. The Takeaway provides a breadth and depth of world, national, and regional news coverage that is unprecedented in public media.
