Colorado's senators reiterated their support for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation on Thursday.
The forced resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions earlier in the week threw the investigation's future into question once again.
Republican Sen. Cory Gardner responded to questions at an unrelated event on Thursday afternoon. Gardner said he supports the probe, but declined to say whether he wants Congress to do anything to protect the probe.
"The Mueller probe should absolutely continue. I've said that multiple times. I hope that we'll get this done thoroughly. It's in the best interest of the president and certainly this country's best interest to have a thorough, complete and transparent investigation. It must continue," Gardner said.
Meanwhile, Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet made an appearance at a pro-Mueller rally at the state Capitol, one of many nationwide on Thursday night. New Democratic congressmen-elects Jason Crow and Joe Neguse were also at the protest.
Bennet explicitly criticized President Donald Trump's actions.
"We have never had a president in the history of this country with as a little regard for our democratic and republican traditions than President Donald Trump. He doesn’t understand the virtue of living in a society that's committed to the rule of law," Bennet said.
