Colorado Symphony: Opening Weekend with Emanuel Ax, piano -- September 18, 7:30pm
Sweepstakes runs Tuesday, 9/14 -- Wednesday, 9/15 at 5pm. Barber’s Adagio for Strings offers a opening dedication to those lost, full of gripping harmonies that artfully convey the effect of courage in the face of tragedy and abiding love after a year of emotional and physical distancing. Pianist Emanuel Ax makes his highly anticipated Colorado Symphony return on Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto. One of the most celebrated and colorful works in the entire symphonic catalogue — Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition — offers a stunning culmination to this symphonic homecoming.
