Event Description

A common obstacle many creatives face is knowing when their piece is done, for fear of overworking it. For this call we defined that stopping point for artists: 60 marks.

Whether you work in 2D or 3D, this open call for entries dictated that the piece must be finished in 60 motions or less - stitches in fabric, brush marks on canvas or paper, lines in a drawing, etc. Many artists would consider a creation limited in this way a warm-up, or sketch, however it is during the sketch that some of the most important information about a piece is communicated to both the viewer and the artist themselves - the moment when an idea is tangibly manifested into visual art.

We requested brevity for the sake of refining intention. How much can the artist say in 60 marks?

Come experience this installation and enjoy two floors of open studios + galleries this First Friday from 5-8 pm, and all month during normal business hours.
