Event Description

The intersection of substance use and mental health continues to present significant challenges in the State of Colorado. It’s estimated that approximately twenty percent of Colorado’s adult population is living with a mental health concern, and our state consistently ranks in the bottom half of all states in access to care, prevalence of mental illness, and suicide rates. The COVID-19 pandemic has also amplified the behavioral health crisis, with the Colorado Crisis Line seeing a nearly fifty percent increase in calls and texts, and deaths by overdose as well as suicide sadly reaching all time highs.

The 2021 Colorado Behavioral Health & Wellness Summit 2021 provides an accessible space for researchers, policymakers, clinicians, and community members to discuss strategies that address the intersection of substance use, mental health, and wellness. Key themes of this year’s Summit are Awareness and Education; Training and Skills; and Policy, Advocacy and Action. Speakers and presenters will engage the community to break down barriers to care, bridge gaps in communication, and share ideas that can improve behavioral health outcomes for all Coloradans.
