Event Description

Compassion Trauma Circle #49
Wed Jul 20, 2022 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM PDT Online, Zoom
NOTE: If this event is sold out, check our Events page for future circles and other CPP events.

Compassion Prison Project hosts these circles to connect to the core of humanity that lives within us all. The circles aren't always easy, but as one participant so perfectly put it, sometimes you need to break out the stinky fertilizer and spread it around to help the garden grow. Sometimes you start off not even sure what's in that bag of fertilizer. Sometimes you know it well.

Please note, although we are a non-profit and rely on funding to keep our programs running, we never want anyone to let finances hold them back from their healing process. So if you need some assistance, see our note at the bottom.

These circles are interactive. There are no spectators, observers, auditors, etc. This doesn't mean you need to share or speak if you choose not to, but the circle is strong because it is comprised of equal parts. Participants come from all sorts of backgrounds, and what we'll realize through this session is how connected we all are regardless of our individual experiences.

What we've learned from these circles is that while suffering thrives in isolation and darkness, suffering diminishes in community and light.

These circles are created for you to have a safe and nurturing space to openly talk about some potentially difficult childhood experience.

Facilitators: Jayme Younger & Linda Goldman
Support Facilitators: TBD

We follow the format used in our Step Inside the Circle video, successfully modified for Zoom, and we've expanded on it. Although we miss out on getting to sit face to face due to our current world health concerns, we gain immeasurably by having participants from all over the world join in.

The format of the circle is as follows:
Part 1 - Introduction and Getting to Know Each Other
Part 2 - ACEs Survey, Compassion Trauma Circle and Discussion
Part 3 - Symptoms of Trauma and Discussion
Part 4 - Integration Modalities and Closing
Total Time: 4 hours including breaks

Compassion Prison Project is a non-profit organization. We bring our program (and many other services) into prisons and transitional houses at no charge, but there are expenses involved. For the sessions we offer to the general public, we ask for a donation of $20. However, if you are unable to make this financial contribution, please do not let that hold you back from joining us. Just send an email to [email protected] letting us know you would like to receive a discounted or free entry and we will happily accommodate you. And if you find yourself able to help support CPP a bit more, your 100% tax-deductible donation goes directly to supporting our programs focused on bringing childhood trauma awareness and integrative healing into our prison and community populations. Together, we are changing the world!

We look forward to taking this step with you!

In gratitude,

The CPP Compassion Trauma Circle Team
