First Universalist Church: Wild Beautiful Orchestra with Kim Robards Dance
When
Event Description
"What sort of music are people writing here in Colorado? Join us for an afternoon of heartfelt and playful new works by Colorado-based composers and their friends. Every piece tells a story, whether it’s through words, dance, or instruments. Kim Robards has choreographed two of these works: Daddy-Daughter Waltz is a tender and uplifting piece exploring family bonds, while Invitation from the Chair is the graphic dialogue of an anguished and resistant patient with an imploring and healing psychiatric chair. In addition to dancers, vocalists and small chorus will add poetry and texture to three of the pieces. Instrumental works range from intimate duets to colorful music for chamber orchestra. The composers were inspired by concepts such as transformation and the search for meaning, as well as love, schools of fish, and the sounds of MRI machines."
