Event Description

Maestro Andrew Grams, known for his “intensity, enthusiasm, and technical clarity,” will conduct four uniquely chosen masterpieces. British composer Anna Clyne’s exuberant PIVOT (2021) walks us through Edinburgh’s boisterous Fringe Festival. We are then treated to Mozart’s sublime Piano Concerto No. 23 with its magical middle Adagio, performed by award-winning Spanish/Dutch pianist, Albert Cano Smit, lauded as “a moving young poet.” We conclude with two great Russian composers: Anton Arensky with his little-known gem Intermezzo, and Prokofiev’s witty and beloved Classical Symphony.

Join us for Colorado Springs Philharmonic Pre-Concert talks. Go behind the curtain and inside the score with these 30-minute pre-concert conversations featuring conductors and guest artists giving their take on the program. Talks begin one hour before performance time.
