CPR Classical Presents: Midori Serenade with the National Repertory Orchestra

When

Event Description

CPR Classical partners with the National Repertory Orchestra to bring you Midori in concert at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. CPR Classical will be there and we hope you will join us! Meet some of your favorite CPR Classical hosts in the venue lobby before the show and during intermission.

From the National Repertory Orchestra: “A stellar program with one of the world’s great violin stars awaits you! Michael Stern and the NRO welcome Midori to the stage for Leonard Bernstein’s singular Serenade (After Plato’s Symposium). Composed for and premiered by the eminent violinist Isaac Stern, Serenade represents the intersection of Bernstein’s deep literary interests and musical impulses.”

Midori is a visionary artist, activist, and educator who explores and builds connections between music and the human experience and breaks with traditional boundaries, which makes her one of the most outstanding violinists of our time. She will mark the 40th anniversary of her professional debut this season, celebrating a remarkable career that began in 1982, when she debuted with the New York Philharmonic at age 11.

BARBER: Medea’s Dance of Vengeance
BERNSTEIN: Serenade (after Plato’s Symposium)
RODRIGUEZ: Luminis
RAVEL: Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2
