Event Description

"Seicento Baroque Ensemble presents music from early 17th century Italy, the most dramatic turning point in the history of music. The years around 1600 marked a significant change from Renaissance polyphony to new melodies and prominent bass lines of the ornate Baroque era, a musical style still used today in music including classical, musical theater, and even rock and roll. Seicento’s founding director, Evanne Browne, has selected gorgeous music, works destined to change the course of music, by Monteverdi, Grandi, Uccellini, Frescobaldi and D’India. Guest artists are Webb Wiggins, harpsichord, Linda Lunbeck, recorders; Billy Simms, theorbo; Sarah Biber, baroque cello."
