Pikes Peak Pastel Society Sponsors Members Art Exhibit

The Pikes Peak Pastel Society has been invited to hold their annual members art show at the Commonwheel Artists Co-op in Manitou Springs, Colorado, beginning on June 4, 2021. The show’s theme “Spring into Summer” will feature art by 19 of the Pastel Society’s local members with works of all sizes using the medium of soft pastel.

The Pikes Peak Pastel Society dates back to 1999 when a group of local Colorado Springs and Pueblo artists began seriously working in pastels under the mentorship and encouragement of Mariya Zvonkovich (a current member of Commonwheel Artists Co-op). PPPS was officially incorporated as a not-for-profit association in 2000 and celebrated 20 years in 2020.

The PPPS Mission is to promote, educate and encourage artistic excellence in soft pastel painting among its members within the community. Educational workshops, painting demonstrations and workshops, plein aire paint-outs, field trips to art exhibits and museums are all part of member meetings and special events.

The Commonwheel Artists Co-op began in 1974, with a mission to promote the arts in the Pikes Peak Region. The Commonwheel Artists Co-op has been recognized as a significant resource in the arts community by various groups, including the Pikes Peak Arts Council and the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce.

All the work exhibited in the shop is made by Colorado artists.

“Spring into Summer” will run from June 4 through June 28 with an opening night reception on June 4 at 7:00 p.m.

The Commonwheel Artists Co-op is located at 102 Cañon Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829, open from 10AM to 8PM daily.
