Event Description

BREAD is back! BREAD is a DIY, micro-granting moveable feast. This next BREAD, the first since Covid, will be at the Concrete Coyote, Sunday November 13th from 3-5. Rosena is making a Haitian stew. Ruthie and Barak are making vegan squash soup. Patience Kabwasa is making a curry. I am making green chile stew, also vegan. Let Patience or me know if you want to cook your best soup recipe too! Stellina Pizza Café is donating bread for 50. Caitlin may bake some of her lovely sweet loaves. I’ll see how my sourdough friend is faring. We are working on a beer donor, and there will be live music. Jessa and Elise are going to cut tissue paper flowers with me.
This BREAD young people (10-20ish) will pitch. Let me know if you know someone who has an idea for making a corner of town more lively, just, beautiful, intriguing, walkable, merciful, magic or otherwise better. Attendees pay cash for their from scratch, delicious dinner. ($10/per person, $35/family). That money goes into a pot. After hearing the pitches, we vote anonymously. Winner takes the pot. These events are held in some sort of uncommon space (the last BREAD, our fourth, was a PIE at The Machine Shop, after hours), and people leave hopeful and happy. We ask for RSVPs so we can know what’s in the pot: aiming for a $500 microgrant.
Thanks to everyone who’s shared news of this event already. If you’d like to help in another way (set up, sharing your strings of solar lights, bringing your weird collection of thrifted tablecloths or cloth napkins, etc.), let us know. Otherwise: just using this channel again (with apologies to whomever I’m annoying in said usage) to invite you. Dress for the weather + bring a water bottle + JOIN US!
