Colorado has had an "influx of pediatric cancer patients" and families moving here because of legal medical marijuana, according to state health officials. That is why researchers at Children's Hospital Colorado want to know whether the drug can be used for the palliative care of patients.
Researchers plan to enroll more than 50 kids in a study that will span the next three years. The researchers will gather data about patients' current use practices, including method of delivery, the strain used, and whether the parents of patients use marijuana for symptom control or tumor treatment.
Dr. Nicholas Foreman, one of the lead researchers, spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
