A new Colorado law will provide fertility coverage for some patients.

It can cost thousands of dollars for couples to undergo fertility treatments like IVF and that means treatments can be out of reach for many. A new Colorado law will require some health plans to cover fertility diagnosis and treatment, though not everyone will be eligible.

Christina Yannetsos is an emergency medicine physician in Aurora, who underwent fertility treatments, paid for them out of pocket and advocated for the new law. It will take effect on January 1, 2023.
