Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute elders are sharing their stories with youth for a project called "Native Braids." KSUT, a public radio station based in Ignacio, is spearheading the project in collaboration with independent producer Adam Burke.
The elders relate what it was like to ride horses as kids, wrestle with identity, and spend time with family in Bear Dance campgrounds. Most importantly the project is about sharing culture and history.
Sheila Nanaeto, KSUT's tribal station manager, and Tami Graham, KSUT's executive director share the vision and lessons learned making "Native Braids."
