Palliative care doctors relieve suffering and improve the overall quality of life for patients with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. In the decade since their field has been recognized as a specialty, their ranks have grown. Demand has too, particularly as Colorado's population ages. As the wave of people needing end of life care grows in the years to come, the CU Anschutz Medical Campus launches what it dubs the nation's first master's program in interdisciplinary palliative care.

Dr. Amos Bailey spearheaded the project. He spoke to Colorado Matter's host Nathan Heffel.
