Recruiting Health Care Professionals to Areas with Shortages

The state health department announced today that it's giving doctors, nurses and other health professionals ten times as much money as it did last year to help them pay off their student loans. In return, recipients have to serve in places with inadequate health care for at least two years. As KCFR health reporter Eric Whitney explains, the big boost in funding doesn't require any additional state tax money.
