The race for governor, already contentious, took an even tougher turn recently. Republican Bob Beauprez questioned plea bargains struck by Democrat Bill Ritter when he was Denver district attorney. Then, Ritter accused Beauprez’s campaign of illegally obtaining information about one of those deals. Meanwhile, most polls have shown Ritter ahead by double digits in a race that’s expected to tighten by election day.
