History teachers in the Navajo Nation have struggled for years with how to place Navajo history in the larger context of U.S. History.To help, a history professor at the University of Northern Colorado is teaching teachers to weave mainstream and local Native American history together. Michael Welsh directs The Middle Ground Project.Adelfa Begay has had the training. She teaches middle school in Ganado, Arizona.
