Round-Up: “Sinkhole” disrupts HWY 24 traffic near Leadville

July 11, 2012

Not long after Highway 24 reopened in the Pikes Peak Region, a large hole has altered traffic along the route between Minturn and Leadville in the central part of the state. But as Aspen Public Radio’s Luke Runyon reports, it’s not your average sinkhole that’s causing commuter headaches in the mountains.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says the full stretch of Highway 24 between Red Cliff and Leadville is not closed, just portions of it, and visitors heading to Camp Hale will be able to do so. Officials also encourage travelers to check for updates online at COTrip.org
