Vestas Issues Second Round of Layoffs

Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has announced a second round of layoffs this week at a Colorado plant, this time at its blade factory in Windsor. Earlier this week, the company let go of 75 workers at its Brighton plant. According to a press release from the Danish company, about 18% of Vestas’ Colorado workforce was affected this week. The company now employs around 1200 Coloradans across four factories. Vestas continues to cite uncertainty over the federal Wind Production Tax Credit as the reason. Meanwhile, Colorado Senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall continue to call for an extension of the credit, saying these job losses are preventable.
