The number of tech companies in Colorado Springs has grown by one. As KRCC’s Liz Ruskin reports, software maker Xledger announced this week that it has moved its North American headquarters here from Silicon Valley.

The Norwegian company Xledger produces web-based business management systems and plans to hire up to 50 employees in Colorado Springs over the next two years. Company Founder Jarle Sky says recreational opportunities and a favorable business climate were part of the reason he decided to move here from Palo Alto.

"And the cost of living there for our employees was not sustainable. And when you have developed a talent, a really great guy, it was so easy for him or her to be taken by Twitter, Facebook."

Its new offices are in the Interquest business park, on the city’s northern edge.
