The fire is 30% contained, and crews are beginning mop-up. Because of the progressm crews are gradually being released so they're available for other fires as needed. Around 100 personnel, air and ground, are still working on the fire. Closures and pre-evacuation notices remain in place.

There's been no growth in the Bull Gulch Fire, and it's now 5% contained. According to the Bureau of Land Management, air and grown crews made good progress today. A Very Large Air Tanker (VLAT) made a drop on the fire this morning and three helicopters made water drops throughout the day. Ninety-eight personnel are working on the ground with another 20-person hand crew expected to arrive tomorrow morning.
No structures have been lost but the Texas Creek Trail system is closed. Approximately 30 homes in the South T-Bar Ranch subdivision were put on pre-evacuation notice late Wednesday. Heavy smoke in the Cañon City area is NOT from this fire, it's from others burning in the state.
The Bull Gulch Fire continues to burn nine miles northeast of Cotopaxi in Fremont County. It's burned 150 acres. Crews include eight smokejumpers, two 20-person hand crews, one Type 6 engine and about 50 personnel that staffed the fire overnight. Two Single Engine Airtankers dropped retardant on the fire Wednesday afternoon. Additional resources have been ordered to assist.
The fire was seen running, torching, and spotting yesterday. Fire managers expect similar fire activity today. No structures have been lost. The Texas Creek Trail system is closed. Snow Drift Lane and everyone within a three-mile radius of that is on Pre-Evacuation status.
The smoke visible Wednesday in the Canon City area was not from the Bull Gulch Fire. Due to high fire activity throughout the state and wind direction, drift smoke from the West Fork Fire complex on the San Juan National Forest in southwestern Colorado settled into much of Fremont County. The public can expect similar conditions today.
