Highway 24 Closed Due to Mudslide (Now Reopened as of 7:15 PM)

Per the El Paso County Sheriff's Department: Colorado Ave and Manitou Ave are reopening. Canon Ave at Park remains closed at the control of Manitou Springs Police Department. MSPD is the lead agency for the remainder of the incident.

Update: 7:14 PM

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says Highway 24 is reopening in both directions. Colorado Ave is closed from 31 St west, extending onto Manitou Ave through Manitou Springs.

The El Paso County Sheriff's office is reporting that 20 homes have been damaged, 6-8 of them significantly. No injuries reported.

6:21 PM

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says Highway 24 is closed due to a mudslide. It's closed westbound at 31st Street and eastbound at Fountain Avenue in Cascade, and the Colorado Department of Transportation says there's no estimate yet of when it will reopen.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department reports Pikes Peak RV park has evacuated for flood risk. Red Cross has opened shelters at 1st Congregational Church of Manitou Springs as well as 1st Presbyterian Church on N. Weber in Colorado Springs.
