Warm thoughts: Colorado Symphony summer schedule features DeVotchKa, Amos Lee at Red Rocks

It was one of the things that got us thinking about moving to Colorado the following year.

Lucky us. Now that we live here, one of the best places on Earth to catch a summer concert is right in our backyard.

In February, summer can seem like it’s a long way away, but Red Rocks 2014 concert announcements have begun to trickle in, and the Colorado Symphony will be performing at two of them (so far). The symphony joins Denver rock band DeVotchKa on July 17 and Blue Note Records singer/songwriter Amos Lee on Aug. 1.

Looking ahead to this summer’s Colorado Symphony rock shows at Red Rocks, this won't be the first time DeVotchka and the symphony have teamed up. They’ve performed together at Boettcher Concert Hall, and at Red Rocks in 2012.

But for singer-songwriter Amos Lee, this is not only his first time with the Colorado Symphony, but according to Red Rocks, his first-ever orchestral concert.

If you haven't heard Lee, here's one of his performances from the 2010 Farm Aid concert.

As the summer outdoor concert calendar begins to fill up with classical music, we’ll keep you updated. And in the meantime, keep thinking warm thoughts.
