Last Saturday night, March 7th, 2015, KRCC's News Director Andrea Chalfin and the Big Something/Wish We Were Here's Noel Black and Jake Brownell both took home first place awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association's annual awards gala the "Excellence Awards."

Andrea won first place for Best News Feature, Report or Series for the KRCC Series "Railroads West,"  a series highlighting the plight of Amtrak's Southwest Chief railroad.  Submitted stories come from incredible work between Andrea and Colorado College student interns Maggie Spencer and Martha Perez-Sanz, plus freelancer extraordinaire Shanna Lewis and capitol reporter Bente Birkeland, as well as Andrea's own reporting.  Read stories from the Railroad West series here.

Noel Black and Jake Brownell won Best Mini-Documentary or Series for Wish We Were Here.  The episode in particular was Wish We Were Here, Episode 3: The Beginning of the End of Homelessness?  Pretty darn amazing for only their third show...EVER!  Huge congratulations to KRCC's News and Culture departments.

If you haven't indulged in these wonderful stories, yet, now is the time.  The rest of the staff at KRCC is so proud and we hope you will be as well.

Stay tuned.  It's just the beginning!
