Prisoners file lawsuit against Dept. of Corrections

A group of Colorado prisoners is suing the Department of Corrections, saying they were wrongly held for too long. The Denver Post reports that the federal class-action lawsuit filed Friday on behalf of 154 inmates seeks millions of dollars in compensation.

The suit says one of the former prisoners, Arlene Rosetta-Rangel, should have been released in May 1995 but wasn't freed until 839 days later because a judge didn't credit her for serving time in jail before she was sentenced.
