Colorado Springs Turns The Tables On StoryCorps, Asks Them Some Questions

The StoryCorps MobileBooth has been collecting stories from Colorado Springs since May 21, but here's an interview we weren't expecting: one about the people manning the booth.

The Colorado Springs Independent stopped by to learn a little more about Emily Jannsen and Erika Romero, the two interview facilitators currently in town. The two spend so much time together, they finish each other's sentences. And they agree that listening mindfully is the most important part of their job.

As for insights into Colorado Springs, it's "less about geography and more about the human condition," the women told the paper.

Every town they visit is different, they say, but 90 percent of the time, the conversations are about similar topics. We talk about family and friendship and love. And what they've learned from where they sit — where, it should be noted, there's usually another box of tissues — is less about geography and more about the human condition.

If you're in the area and looking to talk, StoryCorps conversations are by appointment only.
