Three horses were killed when they were struck by a car on Highway 285 in Chaffee County, the Colorado State Patrol says.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that the crash happened close to midnight Saturday near Poncha Springs. KKTV-TV in Colorado Springs says the person driving was the only passenger in the car and was not seriously injured.
Crews who responded to the crash closed the highway for two hours while they investigated. It's unknown how the horses got on the road.
