Authorities have announced that they arrested a man accused of running onto a ramp at Denver International Airport and trying to stop a departing United Airlines plane.

The incident occurred Aug. 6 but wasn't disclosed until Wednesday.

Prosecutors say the man opened a secure emergency exit on a concourse and ran onto the ramp area, where a plane was pushing back from the gate. The door set off an alarm, and police and airport employees responded.

Authorities haven't said why the man tried to stop the plane. Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery says the flight wasn't significantly delayed.

The Denver District Attorney's Office filed charges of endangering public transportation and hindering public transportation against 58-year-old Marc Rehmar.

He didn't immediately respond to a message left on his home phone.
