· Sep. 1, 2015, 7:05 pm

An Evergreen homeowner is facing charges after shooting two bear cubs rummaging through his trash. One cub was killed instantly in this morning's shooting; the other was wounded and later euthanized. The mother black bear ran across the street and into a tree. Jefferson County deputies said the man first fired rubber rounds from his shotgun to try to scare the bears away but then fired one live round to protect his dog.
