New and expanding companies in the Denver-metro area are dealing with a tight labor market. At the same time, the work force is not growing at last year’s pace.

A monthly report from the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation estimates there were 1.6 million workers in the Denver area last year, but that number grew by less than a half a percentage point this year.  The labor force grew by more than 1.5 percent in 2014.

According to the report, that means about 6,000 people will enter the work force, during a year when employers are on track to add more than 49,000 new jobs.
